We know ourselves to be made from this earth. We know this earth is made from our bodies. For we see ourselves. And we are nature. We are nature seeing nature. We are nature with a concept of nature. Nature weeping. Nature speaking of nature to nature.
—Susan Griffin, Woman and Nature
walk barefoot at least once a day. move like an animal. whisper to trees, belly to earth stillness. crawl like a worm. dream deep among whales. turn your face towards the sun. think like a sunflower. surrender like the moon. periodically erase yourself. let nature crawl into you. replace your middle name with hers. remember: i am the path between earth and sky.
tis the season of resurrection. may that which seemed dead return. renewed, remade, replenished. no matter what they say, the spirit is eternal. be it creative, life force, or divine inspiration.
turn more towards the sun. breathe more the yellow sunflower of yes. become resurrection. become the crocus bulb sprouting her small but mighty, “i am here, now more and more.” make love to the radiance of the sun. reach and extend your arms, your limbs, your fingertips, like trees extending into canopy and sky, birdsong and cloud. gather the sun in your crown and weave her a new story bough. shape yourself into a vessel. pour yourself into a river, a puddle, a pond or another person’s shoes. feel your way, barefoot, listening, listening, through the heart. invite the mystery within the within, to speak words without words. presence. sensing. being. becoming.
the branches that have hollowed give way to new green tufts and shoots. kiss death and be born anew.
the raising of the dead.
four dusky volcano seeds. dreaming of power. simmer little fruits and teach the hungry veins
smell: sticky red perfume of sin and death and before life.
feel: blood molting into love blue feather beads and cool silver pools
listen: clouds colliding from winter into spring. soft. Hard! Clash!
Surrender: open your eyes. the earth anticipates mud for a reason
breathe: animals breathing mysterious secrets primal body below below where the heart thump thump below below and body seeks body. heat and skin upon skin droplets of lust juice aged since fall descending into time. falling time into gravity falling weightless. into more than winter’s weight
be careful. seasons season soul seeds while thighs and caves hibernate growls deep. deep blue black depth of depth. it is dangerous to travel beneath.
ancient rift: man woman. someone wise separated sky from earth. naked is this truth. yet mountains
Mountains quiver for sunset pink blush at dawn.
Hades took Persephone once. only once he took her to the cool dark center. once there she ate juicy jewels. they seeded into her. perennial seeds of return.
She is despite her frustrated screams, his balm. his tempering chrysalis.
balance. earth rumble rumble tumble emerging. moles once blind to light. bones rattle. hearts pop. below ribs. night screams with delight against the sun
she comes. he comes undone. this oh my god fruit
spilling down the chin
liquid rebirth: spring comes.
cocoons: empty in their own timing.
